BUILD was formed in Indianapolis in 2018 by a coalition of Near Westside churches, to move their ministry of service beyond the walls of their congregations. BUILD provides job skills and access to economic opportunity to young people in Indianapolis.

BUILD’s first signature program is YouthBuild which provides education and construction workforce training to opportunity youth ages 16-24. The program provides classroom, basic construction and paid on the job training for young adults who have not completed high school, Justice Involved youth, formerly incarcerated individuals and those who are under and unemployed.

Our Mission & Vision

BUILD’s mission is to create and sustain positive growth on the Near Westside of Indianapolis through comprehensive community development targeting investment in opportunity youth.

We seek to leverage community partnerships to offer accredited job skills training, education opportunities and high-quality affordable housing. Our goal is to increase social and economic capacity of our recruitment areas, with a particular focus toward our surrounding community on the Near Westside.

1 Corinthians 12:25-27 says “there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” BUILD believes there is a unique call for the body of Christ to alleviate the suffering of poverty and endeavors to do so by providing training and employment opportunities to a historically under-resourced community.

Our Support

We are able to create a positive change on the Near Westside in Indianapolis thanks to generous support from our community partners. We are grateful for these organizations because they make our work possible.
